Sorry I was a bum and uh… forgot to post this before today as asked. The level tier break downs for 3rd level are as follows (unless I was a tool and screwed them up):

1st = 5,200

Jamie has pretty much decided that he will no longer be joining us for my game and instead will attempt to be more reliable in running/showing up for his game. To help facilitate this, we are switching weeks. Next week 19 July will be Jamie’s game. The following week (26 July) will be mine. We will continue to alternate on that schedule for the forseeable future.

Also, I need people to please bring some drinks to game. As I’m sure you are all aware, we drink (soda & beer) a decent bit (~6 players, 4hrs) so please bring some drinks to share. Thanks!

Tulufan so far (continued)

After resting at the local inn, the party, along with the aid of Ronan Ragefang entered the mine once again. To their dismay, the room beneath the hatch through which they had previously traveled into the mine was crawling with the giant ants. Ronan offered to cast a mighty spell to clear out the room, thus summoning a great fireball to engulf the ants. Many of the insects were fried by the spell, the remaining survivors running away through the tunnel shafts. Finally the party re-entered the cave and continued on their previous course to what looked like a large and very remarkable room on the map they had found.

Passing the egg room and rounding a corner, the party came upon more ants, these ones larger than the past combatants, and black. Jeremiah Took aim at the nearest large ant and fired an arrow. Narrowly missing the ant, and now aware to the parties presence and intent, the large black ant charged in with abandon. The group stood fast but alas Kain was grappled and carried back farther into the room. Soon after Zekthal too was grappled, even his great orcish strength couldn’t break the ants grasp, his fate matching that of Kain, to be carried back into the room. After some brilliant healing from Ti, the party fought their way to their grappled friends and freed them by slaying the large ants.

The encounter finished, the party continued on their path to finally reach the large room marked with a “crown” on the map. What they came upon was without question (in their minds) some form of ant-royalty. The Queen ant, a massive, hulking beast began to speak telepathically to Zekthal who took point for the group. The queen asked why the party attacked “them”. After much deliberation, the party realized that the ants which originally ambushed them in the mine (on the first day) were red, where these ants were in fact black. This seemingly pacifistic colony requested simply to be left alone, and said they had existed in relative peace with the humans who mined for salt in the tunnels. Making an offer that the party thought beneficial for all, the group extended to slay the red ants, enemies of the blacks, and in doing so requested that the black ants move deeper into the caves to allow for expansion of the surface dwellers. The party and the ants (through the telepathic communication of Zek, reached an uneasy truce… the group would continue deeper into the caves to exterminate the red ant colony thus helping the black ants while continuing their mission for answers, and the lost miners/explorers.

Actual Story Log

A party of 6 loose associates arrived at Tulufan almost a month ago after braving the wilds. They parted ways to pursue their own personal interests but after the gates of the rest stop had been closed for three weeks 5 of them assembled together so they could discuss what was going on and how they could get out of town. They all agreed that a little recon was in order and they first left for the guard at the gate.

Once at the gate the guard Cid explained to them that they were under orders not to allow anyone in or out except for worm riders. When the party inquired more about the last merchants let into the rest stop Cid explained that he really couldn’t remember and that it would be better to ask the merchants at the bazaar. This lead got the party nowhere, but they did get a tip to look in the tavern.

When they entered the tavern the party split up Kain and Jeremiah Bogrunner saddled up at the bar and talked with the bartender Mark. Jeremiah Bogrunner inquired if he could set up a gig for a night in hopes of making some coin for the night. The bar keep was reluctant to let the Bard on stage for just one night and suggested he sign Jeremiah Bogrunner on for five very lucrative days. However, Jeremiah Bogrunner decided against the VERY LUCRATIVE deal for a riskier one night stint. This gave the rest of the party the perfect opening to talk with other patrons about how bad tonight’s entertainment was.

Zekthal Siegebreaker used the opportunity afforded by the bard to approach Gob and strike up a conversation. Baring many intrusions by the overly eager, but maybe a little misplaced, Kain Zekthal Siegebreaker was able to challenge Gob to an arm wrestling match. Though Zekthal Siegebreaker did not win Gob was very impressed by the fight he put up. Gob revealed that the salt mines were having problems and that it might be a good idea to venture over there.

The party decided to take this tip and left for the salt mine. The party found George at the desk of the mine preoccupied by his ring. The party inquired about the troubles the mine had been having, but was immediately met with a denial of any problems. The party suggested that they just wanted to help wherever help was needed, George thought this over and decided to take the the party’s offer. He explained that a group had already ventured into the mines with the only map and failed to return. Jeremiah Bogrunner assured George that they would do all they could to help these poor soles as well as bring an end to the mines problems.

The party ventured into the mine shaft and immediately found a map that appeared to be the missing map. They followed it to a crossroad where they took one path that led them to be ambushed by a group of worker ants through a secrete door. The ants proved to be to great a challenge for Kain as he fell not once, but twice in the battle. After licking their wounds everyone ventured down the secrete passage until they came to the ant nursery where they tried to walk gingerly through the maze of eggs. Unfortunately, Zekthal Siegebreaker was hindered by his massive physique and fell upon an egg, shattering it. The ants that were caring for the eggs immediately sprung at him. The party rallied to Zekthal Siegebreaker’s defense and fought off the ants. With possibly questionable morality Jeremiah Bogrunner suggested that the ants attack upon them twice was a sign that they were naturally hostile and should be slaughtered even in their infancy to protect the local settlement. The party begun destroying the eggs in the nursery when they noticed the sound of a hoard of ants approaching them. Like brave Sir Robin, they ran they ran!

Once back they spoke with George and explained how there was much more than a days work down there, but that they were successful in locating the map. They asked to keep the map till the job was done and if they could have lodging for the night. George agreed to these terms and left the mine to the party for the night. The party discussed how they needed help on this job. Zekthal Siegebreaker said the he knew where Ronan Ragefang had been spending his time these past few weeks and could ask for his assistance in this job. The party all agreed that the Orc’s magical prowess was exactly what the party needed. Agreed upon their future course the party rested for their continued fight the next day.
